Exploring Turkey with GoTurkey

The beginning of 2020 has been a very challenging year for many countries because of the pandemic. It was inspiring to watch how each country is dealing with such unusual and unexpected circumstances finally allowing us to enjoy some of the travelling pleasures at the end of summer again. Turkey is taking a leading example throughout this pandemic and we have finally got to explore and taste it with GoTurkey on a 4 day trip to Dalaman this September. Dive into the enchanting sea blues and mountainous region of Dalaman, taste the delicious cuisine and swim in some of the most beautiful bays in Europe.

DAY 1

We were a small group of London bloggers and content creators heading to Dalaman Turkey, some of us for the first time, to explore the finest Turkish views and holidays with Go Turkey and Zoom Agency. The journey started at Gatwick airport, where we took a direct flight with Turkish Airlines to Dalaman. The airline itself is very professional, sanitary kits were handed to everyone upon entering the plane and the staff made extra sure all passengers wore face masks throughout the flight. In under 3 hours and 30 minutes, we reached Dalaman airport and headed to Tui Holiday Village where we stayed for 4 nights. After late checkout, all of us went to have some rest before the first full day in Turkey.

DAY 2

DAY 2 has greeted us with glorious sunshine and yet still summery weather of +35C. After powering breakfast at TUI Holiday Village we had some free tine to enjoy the hotel, took a swim in the sea and were collected for our first adventure of the day – a trip to Kayaköy, an ancient town that was abandoned during population exchange with Greece. We had a stroll through the abandoned village that has hundreds of Greek style ghost houses carved in hills. The surroundings were very picturesque, who knows maybe this town will come back to life one day again?
Next on the itinerary was a lunch at Muzzy’s Place in Kayaköy, a 20’s inspired place with retro decor and outdoor swimming pool.
The day was about to get even better as we were about to board on a boat from Ölüdeniz to Butterfly Valley – one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The beach can only be accessed via boat, thus we enjoyed a complete privacy and refreshing swim in the sea. Later on, guided by a phenomenal sunset we headed to the shore and drove back to the hotel.

DAY 3

After a lush breakfast, it was time to power up for another magical day in Turkey, mostly spent on a boat exploring one of the most striking Göcek, Fethiye region and its bays. We were picked up from Fethiye Marina and headed on to our first stop – AG Bay with crystal clear waters. There were a lot of jumps off the boat, swimming in between the rocks and a delicious lunch on the board involved. Glided by the sun and the sea, we took a pleasant sail back to MarineTurk for a luxurious dinner at Rixos Premium Göcek. It was lovely to spend another warm summer evening with the team and get to know each other even better. Happy and content, we then headed back to the hotel to rest and prepare for another day of adventures.

For day 4 and our last day in Turkey we had another day filled with jaw-dropping activities. The day started as we were picked up in a Jeep by Kaunos tours and transferred to the most unique beach – Kargicak Bay for a breezy breakfast outlooking the bay. To get our blood running, we were then challenged for some sea kayaking and swimming around Kargicak Bay that had one of the most stunning rocky beaches. We certainly weren’t bored nor tired for more activities, therefore, jumped straight from the sea, onto a boat to explore the ancient city of Kaunos alongside a beautiful lunch feast on a boat too. Before reaching the boat, we stopped at one of the most breathtaking panoramic views of Iztuzu beach, which I must admit is highly worth seeing. We have then sailed through the fascinating historical temple tombs carved high in the mountains that is one of the most unique sights in Turkey. To finish off the day, we were taken to famous Thermal Mud Baths and were promised to leave 10 years younger. Wouldn’t you try?
Showered with breathtaking views and activities, it was time to head back to the hotel for some last team dinner and get rest before next days journey home.
